What is LivingWell Cancer Resource Center?
Established in 2005, LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, part of Northwestern Medicine, is a community based not-for-profit organization that offers free psychosocial support services, education, wellness activities and information to cancer patients, caregivers, and their families.
How much do services cost?
As part of our mission, all programs and services are provided free of charge.
Are you a medical treatment facility?
No. LivingWell is a place where cancer patients, cancer survivors and their loved ones come to get information, learn coping skills, and receive support during their journey with cancer.
Do you offer counseling?
Yes. Our licensed clinical professionals are available for counseling for individuals, couples, families, and children affected by cancer.
How are you funded?
LivingWell is a not-for-profit organization that receives no state or federal funding but is dependent on the community for support. We rely on the generosity of individual contributors, corporations, grantors, and community foundations.
Do you accept insurance?
Because LivingWell programs and services are free of charge, there is no need to involve insurance providers.
How did LivingWell get its start?
Four founding board members, all facing cancer in their families, initiated the start up of LivingWell. After five years of careful planning and fundraising, LivingWell opened its doors in 2005.
How do I get started at LivingWell?
The best way to get started is to attend a ‘Welcome to LivingWell’ orientation which is available every Friday. You can also drop by and take a tour or by calling LivingWell at 630-262-1111 and make an appointment with one of our counselors who will help connect you to programs and services to address your specific needs.
What will I need to provide in order to participate in LivingWell’s programs?
All new participants will be asked to fill out a new participant form. In addition, anyone wishing to attend a Wellness class or receive Wellness services (such as massage or Reiki) will need to provide a signed physician’s release form and complete a health history form prior to attending the first wellness program.
